Pumpkin Tic Tac Toe

Here is a fun way to celebrate Fall… Pumpkin Tic Tac Toe! This is the perfect fall game for kids of all ages to make and play. The tic tac toe game board is made from 1 sheet of 6mm craft foam (we used green) and black electrical tape. The Pumpkin Shapes are pre-cut craft foam and sold in packs of Orange or White Pumpkins. It takes just 5 of each color to play! Personalize pumpkins by adding Wiggle Eyes and drawing a smile w/ Sharpie Markers. This is a great inexpensive game to have out on the coffee table this Fall. It works for Halloween and Thanksgiving. Change the game pieces to Christmas Bulbs and it can stay out all thru the holiday season!

After Fall, simply swap the pumpkin game pieces for Large Christmas Bulk Shapes. The Green Tic Tac Toe Game Board will work perfect for a Christmas!

To make your own Tic Tac Toe Board, start with 1) 9×12″ Sheet of 6mm Green Craft Foam. Set a 12″ ruler on the side of the craft foam sheet and create your lines with Black Electrical Tape. On the 12″ side, run lines at 4″ and 8″. On the 9″ side of the foam, run tape lines at 3″ and 6″ to create a tic tac toe board with 9 equal squares.

This is a fun step to let kids do, however, if you are working with young children, you can prep the tic tac toe boards ahead of time. For a nicely finish game board, trim the electrical tape just slightly longer than the craft foam (shown above). When all the electrical tape is on the board, simply wrap the ends around to the back side of the craft foam. Press tape lines to secure to foam.

Now that the Tic Tac Toe Board is created, it is time for some game pieces! All it takes is 5 White Pumpkin Shapes and 5 Orange Pumpkin Shapes. These are sold pre-cut and ready to decorate (if you choose too).

Optional Step: Add 12mm Sticky Back Wiggle Eyes and a smile to each pumpkin. You can draw the smile or anything on the pumpkin shapes with a permanent marker. We like Sharpie Markers! Tip: Permanent Markers take just a few seconds to dry on craft foam. Be careful not to smear the marker with your hand as you draw on the pumpkin shapes.

Since we made the Tic Tac Toe Game Board with Green Craft Foam, you can sub out the Pumpkins for Christmas Shapes! Try Large Christmas Bulbs… they’re the perfect Christmas game piece size.

Printable Craft Recipe…

Using a ruler along the 12″ side of the craft foam sheet, add electrical tape lines at 4 and 8″.
Move the ruler to the 9″ side of the foam and add electrical tape lines at 3″ and 6″ across to make 9 equal squares.
Tuck any excess tape under the craft foam (on the backside).
Optional: Decorate the pumpkin game pieces by adding Wiggle Eyes and a smile w/ Sharpie Markers.
